ISTQB Advanced Technical Test Analyst (CTAL - TTA)

This course provides test engineers with advanced skills in component testing, white box testing, static analysis, non-functional testing and test automation through direct instruction and group exercises, going beyond the ISTQB Foundation level. This ISTQB accredited hands-on course provides test engineers with the ability to define and carry out the tasks required to put the strategy into action and is ideal for testers and test teams preparing for certification. In preparation for the exam, participants will learn the subject matter behind the test standard and deepen their understanding by working through case studies and exercises. In group exercises, typical review situations are played out and analysed.

Following the ISTQB Foundation Certificate, the Advanced Technical Test Analyst Certificate provides the next level of knowledge and practical expertise in the ISTQB Advanced Certification scheme. It is one of three certified courses at Advanced level (the other two being Advanced Test Manager and Advanced Test Analyst).

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Recognize and classify the typical risks associated with the performance, security, reliability, portability and maintainability of software systems
  • Create test plans which detail the planning, design and execution of tests for mitigating performance, security, reliability, portability and maintainability risks
  • Select and apply appropriate structural design techniques to ensure that tests provide an adequate level of confidence, based on code coverage an design coverage
  • Effectively participate in technical reviews with developers and software architects
  • Recognize risks in code and software architecture and create test plan elements to mitigate those risk through dynamic analysis
  • Propose improvement to the security, maintainability and testability of code by applying static analysis
  • Outline the costs and benefits to be expected from introducing particular types of test automation
  • Select appropriate tools to automate technical testing tasks
  • Understand the technical issues and concepts in applying test automation.

Typical Audience

People who have experience in software testing and want to certify to a higher level. This includes developers, test analysts, test engineers, but also test managers and development managers.


Course Prerequisites

Successful completion of the ISTQB Foundation Certificate is a pre-requisite to taking the ISTQB Advanced Certificate examination.

The training can be attended without holding an ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst certificate, but it is considered recommended for taking the exam.

Course Delivery

Throughout the course, an accredited trainer and software testing expert provides lectures and

gives exercises based on real world projects.

Different mock exams ensure an optimal preparation for the real certification exam.

Courses can be given in English or in Dutch. Course material is in English.

The course and the exam are offered to you in cooperation with our partner Improve QS.

Course Venue

The course duration is 3 days. This course can be given at the client’s site or at CTG.

Taking the exam is not part of the course.

Pricing

€ 1650/3 days. All prices are exclusive of the exam fee, which is subject to change. At the time of publishing the exam fee is € 275 per person.

All prices are VAT excluded; course material, lunch and beverages are included.

Cancellation

  • By Participant: If a subscribed course participant is replaced by another participant or if the public course is postponed to a later date no cancellation costs apply. A participant or a group that fails to attend, or that cancels a course without at least 15 working days written notice prior to the course start, is liable for the full subscription cost.
  • By CTG: CTG reserves the right to cancel a course at any time.

Course Logistics

All classroom courses begin promptly at 9 am and are scheduled until 5 pm. All courses are organised at the CTG premises in Diegem (Belgium).
