The Hollow Square is a business game and communications experiment that makes teams reflect on their communication effectiveness and collaboration styles. Can you beat the game and save the world?
Effective team communication and strong collaboration is key to every company. Are your teams skilled, performing and mature enough to thrive in a demanding environment where technology is disrupting both markets and companies at an ever-accelerating pace?
The Hollow Square challenges a group of three teams in a simulation of events where teams are put in a difficult spot. Whether they succeed or fail, they will experience moments of reflection and feedback about communication styles and collaboration techniques to achieve workable action points on which they can improve both on an individual level and as a team.
This game can be used to help teams understand the impact of communication between those who develop plans and those who have to implement them. However, more generically, individuals and teams alike will understand how communication (or lack thereof) affects their collaboration. It also highlights helpful and counter-productive behavior when planning, assigning or completing tasks. Individuals and teams that regularly work on problem solving will find the game useful for alerting them to factors that encourage or restrict effectiveness.
Everyone! All levels within an organization, from C-level to the Operations level, can participate in both homogenous and heterogeneous groups.
