This three-day course is aimed at test engineers that are willing to add context driven testing to their testing skills set. The training will introduce trainees to the core beliefs and basic principles of context driven testing and will focus mainly on exploratory testing and session based testing practices.
Through the use of practical examples and lots of hands-on exercises, trainees will be made aware of the many biases that blind them when applying common structured testing and agile testing approaches.
Having finished the training, trainees will know how context driving testing can be complementary to more traditional testing approaches.
The goal of this course is to gain a basic understanding of the core beliefs and basic principles of context driven software testing and to understand how context driven testing can complement more traditional testing approaches applied during structured testing or agile testing.
Trainees will learn how they can manage the many biases that blind them by exploring the context they are operating in when doing software testing. Trainees will be made familiar with the main concepts of session based testing. Session based testing processes and tools supporting mind mapping, capturing information and note taking will be discussed and practiced during the training.
Creativity and questioning skills will be added to the trainees’ skill set.
This course is intended for test engineers that already have some experience with structured testing and/or agile testing, and that are willing to add exploratory testing to their skill set.
No specific prerequisites are required.
However it is recommended that trainees already had some first experiences with structured testing in plan driven software development cycles and/or agile testing in value driven software development cycles. Having followed basic trainings like “Structured Testing: Basics & Methodology”, “Plan Driven Testing”, “ISTQB Foundation (CTFL)”, “Value Driven Testing”, “Agile Practitioner with Lego Mindstorms ©”, “ISTQB Foundation Extension: Agile Tester (CTFL-AT)” is a plus.
Approximately 50% of the class is devoted to lab exercises.
Throughout the course, an experienced trainer and software testing expert provides lectures and gives exercises based on real world examples. Courses can be given in English, Dutch or French. Course material is in English.
The course duration is 3 days.
